    Description

FURMAN PQ-3 PARAMETRIC EQUALIZER Vintage 1979 Black Face used by Dimebag. Condition is "Used".
This used vintage 1979 Furman PQ-3 Parametric Equalizer comes with an attached Power Cable. This Furman PQ-3 is 43 years old. This EQ is in excellent condition with normal wear from age and use. This Furman has a couple little blemishes from being used. All the knobs are in great shape. This Furman hasn’t been altered. That’s why I take pictures of the circuit board. See for yourself that it’s in great shape. No problem what so ever. This Furman PQ-3 has been fully tested, and works great. Sounds phenomenal. The circuit board is in excellent condition for its age. All the resistors, compacitors and all the pots are original. Plugged in doesn’t hiss or make scratchy noise. You don’t see these units with all original parts and pieces. You get what you pay for. If you are a true guitar player? You are always searching for that sound. If your looking and want a Furman PQ-3 your almost there. I’m not a Grateful Dead fan. Jerry Garcia bought the first Furman PQ-3 back in the 70’s. The guitar players after him like Dimebag, Micheal Sweat and many other 80’s rock and heavy metal bands had and used the PQ-3. They kept the Furman a secret in their arsenal. Please see pictures for details on item condition. Great condition I think. Product Details: The Furman PQ-3 is a classic parametric EQ made famous as a guitar equalizer. If you want to up your game add the PQ-3 to your arsenal. It's also a great EQ for other sources as well. The PQ-3 features 3 fully parametric bands with an enormous amount of gain and cut, as well as a Q control, and Frequency control. There isn't another EQ on the market today that sounds like the PQ-3. These are pictures of the actual product you will receive. Dimebag used a Furman PQ-4 Then went to the Furman PQ-3 with the MXR Flanger Doubler, vintage MXR 6 band EQ. And his Randall Amps. The Furman PQ-3 is essential for the Dimebag sound. Micheal Sweet of STRYPER used the Furman PQ-3 for his and Oz’s sound as well. Doug Aldrich's uses the Furman PQ-3. Look at my picture of Doug and see where he places his PQ-3 in all his gear. A lot of famous musicians use or used the Furman PQ-3 for their rocking sound. I’m pretty sure Micheal Schenker, Ratt and a bunch of 80’s rockers used the Furman PQ-3. Actually the Furman PQ-3 was the secret weapon of many famous guitar players. Which they kept it a secret as I said. If you take care of them they should last forever. Unlike shit they make these days. I’m hook on the sound I get out of them. Everything on this unit works as suppose to. This PQ-3 was in a rack mount for its life. That means it has been protected. Read all or some of my selling feedback. That’s up to you? A lot of people selling hide shit to get over on you. I like having a 100% positive buying and selling on Reverb and ebay. My guitar gear might be a little more expensive. You get what you pay for. In my photos I show power works. I show in listing pics no one butchered the circuit board. If you want that half caulked wha sound that Micheal Sweet talks about. There you go. Or if you want to come close to Dimebag’s sound the PQ-3 is essential for his awesome sound. Close your eyes and think about that sound CHUNK, CHUNK CHUNK!!!
This is from a bass player using a Furman PQ-3 Parametric Equalizer for his bass.
He says, I have to say, that the Furman PQ-3 is indeed a wonderfull device that allowed me, as a bass player dial in/out sonic problems that a particular venue had. And with a twist of a knob, it could make my SVT stack either shake the place to it’s knees, or piss people off!
The FURMAN PQ-3 Parametric Equalizer / Instrument Preamp were Furman’s first product in 1976. (Jerry Garcia bought the first one). Now it’s a collectors item still used by top guitarists. Dimebag owned several original PQ-3’s; he used the FURMAN PQ-3 for many years throughout his successful career and albums.
In 1998 Dime asked the Furman Company to bring the PQ-3 back. So they did. The ‘newer’ PQ-3 was identical to the original except they added a front panel–input along with the rear one, so you can plug into the front or back. The green and red faceplate from 1976 was the same. The preamp was the same and the sound is the same. And so is the PQ-3’s extra deep and wide range of adjustments. It goes from +20 dB to xx, infinite cut. That’s wider than you’ll find in studio parametrics, and it’s great for guitarists. With the Furman PQ-3, whatever you want to do, you can do more of it. Create your own sounds.
To add to Dimebag’s iconic sound, was his  and Randall amplifiers; RG100 MXR Doubler Flanger.
What you see is what you get. An all original awesome vintage 1978 Furman PQ-3 Parametric EQ which is now a collectors item.
